Gravely Brewing Moving to NuLu

Gravely Brewing announced it will move later this summer to a new space in the NuLu neighborhood.

The original brewery space opened in 2017 at 514 Baxter Ave. as a hybrid brewery and music venue concept. The new, 10,000-square-foot space is located at the corner of Main and Campbell streets. The new facility will, according to the announcement, feature plenty of natural light, an “expansive” patio area and “a more seamless customer experience.”

Interestingly, the announcement, which was posted on the business’ Facebook account, stated that the original location would not close — instead, brewing will continue there, and the taproom area will be turned into an undisclosed new concept — “something better, that’s also very Gravely.”

The on-site Eliana’s Honduran Cafe food truck will move to the NuLu location along with Gravely Brewing.

Gravely features that will be lost will be the elevated overlook that offers a view of downtown Louisville, as well as the simple fact that the property is located on a site of brewing history, in a parcel that once was part of the historic Phoenix Brewery, which closed in 1916. The mouths of two former lagering tunnels — where lager beers were stored for fermentation — are in plain view of the original Gravely patio, and the gray building adjacent to the property is the last remaining building from Phoenix Brewery.
